Installing a Wall Mount for the TV

There are studs in the drywall. Studs in the drywall— somewhere.

Like misguided Okies, using dowsing rods to look for water, we search and search for the studs in vain.

First come the cruder methods. The “do-it-yourself” approach. Knock, knock, knock. Harsh knuckles on drywall. Knock, knock, knock. We all strain to hear some subtle shift in timbre or tone. Some shift that will show us the way.

“Sounds dense. Gotta be one right here.”

Out comes the drill: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz—clunk.

“Nope… must be over here.”

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz—clunk.

“Dang.”

Next comes the advanced method. The scientific approach. It comes in a bright package, shilled by a TV salesman, emblazoned with hyperbolic claims to fame: “Yours for Only 39.95”

Beep—beep—beeeeeeeeeeeep!

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz—clunk.

“What?”

Beep—beep—beep—beeeeeeeeeeeep!

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz—clunk.

“Huh?”

Now? Now comes the arguing. The pointless bickering where everyone is suddenly somehow an expert in all manner of things. Theories are hypothesized and then disproven. User manuals are scrutinized. A few more holes are aimlessly drilled.

Now, finally, comes retching defeat.

“It’s this damn machine!”
“This damn wall!”
“The TV is too heavy anyway!”
“Screw this, I need to get home!”

And so on, and so on it goes.

There are studs in the drywall. Studs in the drywall— somewhere. Or so the legends say. I really do not know.

For it seems that all our endeavors have brought us nothing more than bitter failure and oh, oh so many holes.

Holes in the drywall.

The Tallahassee Website

So, I guess the Tallahassee Website went down at some point.

But, thanks to the magic of the WayBackMachine, it’s still viewable!
